Welcome to the Resume Business Building Blog 

I wanted to take a moment to say 'hello' and introduce myself.

I'm Kara, a self-proclaimed night-owl. In fact, as I write this, it is about 1 am and my writing partner (my dog Winter - a miniature schnauzer mix) is sleeping in my office right next to me.

I've been building and scaling my business for just short of 9 years now. When I started, I was working full-time in a well-paying, program management position, with 2 kids 6 and under, and living in military housing.

As a  military wife, most of the household duties fell on me. I was an Army brat, so that wasn't the hard part. At this juncture in my roller coaster of a career - based on frequent moves, the availability of jobs in a new city, and/or my husband being deployed... I was tired. I knew there had to be a better way.

To make a long story short, when a neighbor asked me to take a look at his resume, I had that 'ah ha' moment that Oprah often talks about. I rewrote his resume (without any formal training) in my pajamas, while my family slept. He offered to pay me... and a star was born... just kidding.

I didn't take any money, but I did take the idea, and I ran with it. Then he referred me to another friend... and a business was born. Now, truth be told, that first resume I wrote was not that great, but it was 'good', and I got better, and the business grew.

One of the most rewarding parts of a Resume Business is the impact that your career marketing documents can have on building the confidence of your clients, which in turn contributes to their successful job search.

With so much on my plate, why did I start my business? Because I had to make a shift.
