Set Your First 3 Goals for Your Resume Business

Do you already have goals set for the rest of this year? Are they written down?

I'm not talking about New Year's resolutions - I'm talking about GOALS.

Of course, world events have likely caused you to forget your goals, doubt your goals, or even give up on your goals. But I'm not going to let that happen!

Because you are here - there is a twinkle in your eye and a thought running through your brain that a Resume Business might just be for you.  Am I right?

Let's grab your GOALS and keep it mov'in!

Let's put some fire under those goals.

I want you to get a Spiral notebook - you will come to find that those are one of my most favorite (and inexpensive) tools. I want you to write on the cover, or find a label and mark it with a sharpie, or for my Type A's or creatives - generate either a P-Touch label or print a fancy label from your computer. See how much time I spent there talking about labels - personality shines through.

Okay? I know you are thinking 'What do I put on the label?'  I want you to write:

MY RESUME BUSINESS

Simple.

Every time you have a thought about your business, such as a title for your Resume Business, branding colors, website design, client strategy, card design, or a question, I want you to write it in your notebook. Cool?

So, let's talk goals! As you move towards receiving the opportunity for even more information and resources, I want to make sure you don't trip your self up along the way.

Business goals - that are written down - help you gauge your progress and measure your success, and help you stay motivated to reach those goals.
S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

Not having goals is equivalent to being on a hamster wheel going nowhere.

Take a few minutes to think about the goals you want to achieve in your Resume Business, and yes - Make $$$$ - is a perfectly acceptable goal.

Here's 3 Ways to Set Progressively Challenging Goals for Your Business

Goals that are too easy will keep you in your comfort zone and won’t lead to taking that leap to start your business.

Goals that are too challenging will make you feel defeated and possibly cause you to give up on your dream. Planning on how you will accomplish your goals doesn’t  have to require a lot of time.

In your Spiral Notebook, I want you to set 3 Goals.

1. Small goals. These are goals you can reach easily with just a little bit of extra effort, such as planning where in your house/apartment that you will set-up your business (mine was tucked in my nightstand in the very beginning)!

Other small goals include naming your business and deciding on the steps you need to take to get the no-nonsense knowledge you need about your business. Small goals should always increase, but shouldn’t be so difficult that you end up stressed. These should be the easiest goals to meet so that you feel accomplished!

2. Medium goals. These are the goals that make you step out of your comfort zone. Staying in your comfort zone won’t lead to growth; instead, you’ll stay right where you are and won’t move forward.

A medium goal might be researching the requirements in your county, city, and state regarding business licensing. The process in Virginia was a lot different, and more complex, than the process in Colorado. Another medium goal might be committing to a side-hustle Resume Business, a part-time Resume Business or a full-time Resume Business and starting to determine those hours.

3. Large goals. These are the monumental and EXCITING outcomes that may seem out of reach. Remember, out of reach does NOT equal impossible OR far away. Learning how to break those goals down into smaller steps, such as monthly, weekly, or daily goals, can help you achieve those larger goals!

An example of a large goal might be learning how to attract clients and achieve consistent 5-figure months in your first 60-90 days of business, have a 6 figure year, or build a Resume Business that employs a team.

Setting small goals today that enable you to reach difficult goals, not only grows your Resume Business, but it gives you a foundation of accomplishment.

Bonus: These tips work for both personal and business goals!
